Alex Sartan has over 15 years of experience in software engineering and web development. In 2021, they began their current role as Lead Engineer at Initial Capacity. From 2017-2021, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Pivotal where they created curriculum and taught developers to build cloud-native web applications. From 2015-2017, they were a Senior Software Engineer at Pivotal Labs where they led a team of 10 engineers in the development of a healthcare staffing marketplace. From 2012-2015, they were a Software Engineer III and Web Developer II at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. From 2010-2012, they were a Web Developer at Adams 12 Five Star Schools and Wall Street On Demand. From 2006-2010, they were a Web Developer and System Administrator at Page 1 Solutions. In 2005, they had temporary roles as an Install Technician at Pomeroy IT Solutions and an IT Technician at ARAMARK.

Alex Sartan's education history includes a High School degree from Brooklyn Technical High School, where they studied Computer Science from 1996 to 2000. Alex then attended the University at Buffalo from 2000 to 2001, studying Computer Science. Alex earned a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies (Computer Science, Philosophy) from Stony Brook University between 2001 and 2004. Finally, they attended Colorado State University in 2014, but did not receive a degree.
