Brian Coghlan

Brian Coghlan is a seasoned research officer with extensive experience in aquatic research and fisheries management. Currently leading the National Barriers Program at Inland Fisheries Ireland since September 2007, Brian has played a pivotal role in creating a national geo-referenced database of barriers in Irish rivers and streams. Additionally, Brian provides technical support for the Environmental River Enhancement Programme, a project funded by the Office of Public Works. Previous roles include working as an Environmental & Hydrographic Consultant at Aquafact, an Inshore Fisheries Development Research Technician at Bord Iascaigh Mhara, and a Fisheries Biologist at the Marine Institute. Brian's academic background includes a Master of Science focused on the genetics of blue mussels, a Higher Diploma in Fishing Management, and a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology and Oceanography.
