Lead Hand - Parks & Community Spaces at Town of Innisfil

Darren Nicholson has a diverse work experience that spans various roles and industries. Darren started their career in 2012 as a Gate Attendant at the Town of Georgina. After that, they worked as a Park Attendant at the same company in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, they took on the role of a Security Guard at Hideaway Records & Bar before transitioning to a Healthcare Guard position at G4S in 2014-2015. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Seasonal Labourer for the Town of Georgina and the City of Markham, and as a Parks Crew Leader at the Town of Georgina. Darren then joined York Region as a Seasonal Transportation Maintenance Worker from 2017 to 2018. Later on, they worked for the Town of Aurora, serving as a Part-Time Arena Attendant, Municipal Law Enforcement/Animal Control Officer, and a Seasonal Labourer. Currently, they are employed by the Town of Innisfil as a Lead Hand in Parks & Community Spaces and as a Hybrid Operator in Roads & Parks.

Darren Nicholson obtained an Associate's degree in Protection, Security, and Investigation from Fanshawe College between 2012 and 2014. Darren also holds several additional certifications, including a Certified Playground Practitioner from the Ontario Parks Association that was obtained in May 2023. Additionally, they have certifications in Worker Health and Safety Awareness, Standard First Aid, CPR Level C & AED, Winter Equipment Operations Training, Summer Grounds Maintenance Training, Basic Refrigeration, Smart Serve, and an Ontario Security Guard License, all obtained between 2014 and 2016. Darren also has certifications in Certified ASP Officer - Baton, Propane CH-02-T, and Working at Heights, although the specific dates of obtaining these certifications are not provided.
