Shabel Castro, Esq. is a Foderaro Post-Conviction Litigation Fellow at Innocence Project. Previously, they served as a Staff Attorney at Brooklyn Defender Services, focusing on removal defense as part of the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project. With a background in public interest law, social policy, and sociology, Shabel has also interned at various organizations, worked as a Legal Advocate, and served as Editor-In-Chief of The Meridian school newspaper. Additionally, they hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.), a Master of Science (MSSP), and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Sociology.
