Martijn van Zelst

Martijn van Zelst has a diverse work experience in the field of molecular biology and precision medicine. Martijn currently holds the position of Operations Lead at InnoSIGN, where they are responsible for the commercialization of their mRNA-based OncoSIGNal pathway activity profiling technology. Prior to this, they worked as a Development Engineer at InnoSIGN and played a key role in revolutionizing precision medicine through the development of their proprietary technology.

Before joining InnoSIGN, Martijn worked at Philips Molecular Pathway Dx as a Development Engineer for two years. Martijn also gained valuable experience at Philips Research, where they served as a Scientist and Research Engineer. During their time at Philips Research, they contributed to various research projects and conducted scientific studies related to their field of expertise.

Martijn's journey in the industry started with a graduation internship at Philips Research, Eindhoven. This opportunity allowed him to gain hands-on experience in a research setting and further develop their skills. Additionally, they worked as a Molecular Biologist at The University of Waikato, where they completed an internship for their bachelor's degree. In this role, they focused on determining the bacteria present in an abandoned zinc mine using genomic DNA and performed techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, cloning, and general microbiological skills.

Martijn van Zelst completed their education in a chronological order. Martijn attended Jacob Roelandslyceum from 1997 to 2003. Martijn then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences from Fontys Hogescholen, which they completed from 2005 to 2009. In 2013 and 2014, Martijn attended NCOI Hogeschool where they studied Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering.

In terms of professional development, Martijn completed internal training at Philips from 2008 to 2018, successfully obtaining a "Passed" certification.
