Tony Dong

Tony Dong has a diverse background in education and program development. Tony started their career as a Mentor for the Urban Mentorship Initiative, where they provided guidance and organized large-scale field trips for middle school students. Tony then worked as a Corps Member with City Year, assisting with classroom support, tutoring, and afterschool programs. Tony went on to become a Teacher with Teach for America, advocating for underserved communities and pursuing emergency teaching certification. Tony then joined Mastery Charter Schools as the Director of Gifted and Talent Programming, where they created a comprehensive program for gifted students and designed engaging enrichment experiences. Tony also served as a Writing and Art teacher at the school. Following that, they worked at InnovateEDU as the Director of Instructional Design, where they developed digital learning solutions, trained teachers, and provided expertise on learning management systems. Tony was responsible for designing curriculum and developing organizational standard operating procedures. Tony also has experience as an Artistic Director at GD Productions, overseeing production budgets and maintaining the visual integrity of materials. Tony Dong obtained their B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Ithaca College, where they studied from 2008-2011. Following this, they received their Teach for America Teaching Certification with a focus on Urban Education and Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania, where they attended from 2012-2013. In addition, Tony Dong obtained the Cambridge English Language Teaching for Adults certification from Cambridge English Language Assessment in October 2015.
