Jessie Leonard began their work experience in 2007 at O'Halloran International as a Fleet Maintenance Management Billing / Administrative Assistant. After two years, they were promoted to a full-time administrative assistant role. In 2010, they joined R.L. Fridley Theatres, Inc. as an Assistant Manager/General Employee, where they were responsible for managing shifts, answering guest questions, and ensuring smooth operations. In 2013, they worked as a Freelance Blogger for DesMoinesisNOTBoring, writing about interesting things in Des Moines. They then joined Des Moines Area Community College in 2008 as a Copy Editor, checking for grammatical errors and ensuring cohesiveness in completed stories. In 2014, Jessie Leonard joined Nationwide, starting as a Commercial Lines Member Solution Rep III and then progressing to roles as a Commercial Lines Associate Underwriter and a Commercial Lines Underwriter. Currently, they work at Innovation Refunds as a Client Success Champion.

Jessie Leonard completed an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities from Des Moines Area Community College from 2006 to 2009. They then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Language and Literature, General from Simpson College, where they studied from 2009 to 2013. Additionally, Jessie Leonard obtained several certifications from LinkedIn, including "Building Relationships While Working from Home," "Creating a Positive Customer Experience," "How to Succeed in an Internal Job Interview," "Building Resilience," "Leading and Working in Teams," "Learning Data Science: Understanding the Basics," "Learning Office 365 (Microsoft 365)," "Managing Stress," "Microsoft Teams Essential Training," and "OneDrive for Business Essential Training" in various months and years from 2020 to 2021.
