Melissa Gonzalez's work experience begins in 2000, where they worked as a Production Supervisor at Foster Farms, a family-owned poultry company. Melissa then transitioned to California Charter Academy - Westley Site in 2001, where they held the role of Site Coordinator and Lead Teacher until 2004. Following this, Melissa worked at Connecting Waters Charter School as an Education Specialist from 2004 to 2017. Since 2014, Melissa has been working as an Assessment Director at Innovative Education Management, a non-profit organization that develops and operates charter schools in California.

Melissa Gonzalez obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Psychology and Anthropology. Melissa attended this institution from 1996 to 1999.
