Manar Zaghlula holds a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the George Washington University and a Ph.D. in Translational Biology and Molecular Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine. His research background is in neurogenetics and genetic screens. Prior to joining the IGI, Manar was a Science & Technology Policy Fellow with the California Council on Science and Technology. In his dual role as a policy consultant in the Assembly Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee and a legislative staffer to State Assemblymember Dr. Bill Quirk, Manar analyzed environmental policy proposals, shepherded new bills through the legislative process, staffed a number of issue areas, including health, education, and housing, and engaged extensively with stakeholders and lobbyists. Manar is passionate about working at the nexus of science and policy and contributing to the translation of scientific advances to tangible benefits to humanity and the planet.
