Darvin Lane has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Darvin began their career in 1981 as a Vibrator Mechanic at Geophysical Service Inc. Darvin then worked at Western Geophysical from 1991 to 1996 as a Sr. Field Support Mechanic. Following this, they joined Northern Geophysical of America as a Vibrator Supervisor from 1996 to 1998. In 1998, they became a Field Service Engineer at Input/Output before transitioning to Fairweather Geophysical in 2000 as a Mechanical Manager. From 2002 to 2015, they worked at Schlumberger as a Wireline Vibrator Support Champion. In 2015, they became the Managing Partner at D.R. Lane Ent, LLC before joining INOVA Geophysical in 2016. At INOVA Geophysical, they held various roles including Project Manager - Vehicles, Director of Vehicles, and currently, they work as an Engineering Technical Advisor.

Darvin Lane attended the North Dakota State College of Science from 1979 to 1981. Darvin pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree, majoring in Diesel/Hydraulics Technology during this period.
