Alex Finan

Alex Finan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. They started their professional career as a Summer Research Intern at Kepos Capital, L.P. in 2018, where they conducted research on the correlation between CAPE index and excess S&P returns. They also analyzed computer data and attended daily seminars and meetings.

In 2018, Alex transitioned to a PhD Candidate position, working as a Research Assistant. Their responsibilities included authenticating tabulations on collected data, verifying two-way ANOVA and associated tests, and editing their final dissertation for academic publication. They anticipate co-authored research to be completed in the summer of 2019.

In 2019, Alex worked as a Chess Instructor at Chess4Life, where they taught chess lessons to students of various skill levels. They planned curriculum and executed weekly learning plans for their students.

They also worked as a Student Tutor at Seven Points Prep in 2019, assisting students with their studies and providing academic support.

In 2020, Alex joined BeckmanReady as a Business Analyst. They performed data analysis and provided insights to support business decision-making. However, this role ended in September 2020.

During the same year, Alex took on two roles at Stanford University. As a Stanford PCAS Research Assistant, they researched the federal and state regulation of physical infrastructure for a Ford Foundation sponsored research paper. They also built a visual model to illustrate the cooperation between federal, state, and local agencies in monitoring and installing public infrastructure projects. They expect to have a co-authored publication in the spring of 2020.

Additionally, Alex worked as a Stanford Research Analyst in 2020, analyzing statistics on a dataset of Canadian syllabi to ensure affordability of college education materials. Their research functioned as an Amicus Curiae for a Canadian parliament ruling.

Most recently, in 2021, Alex joined INRIX as a Data Analyst, where they are responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to drive business insights.

Alex Finan attended The Bear Creek School from 2015 to 2019, where they earned their High School Diploma. Currently, they are pursuing a degree in Economics with a focus on Financial Mathematics at Stanford University, expected to be completed by 2023.
