Computational Research Scientist at Inscopix

Zachary Ip, Ph.D. has experience in various research positions. Zachary most recently worked as a Computational Research Scientist at Inscopix, Inc. starting in May 2023. Prior to this, they were a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Washington from September 2018 to March 2023. In this role, they focused on developing neural interfaces and studying brain plasticity after stroke. Zachary also led collaborative projects and published multiple papers.

Zachary also gained experience as a Data Science intern at Inscopix, Inc. from June 2022 to September 2022. In this role, they implemented deep learning models for behavioral tracking analyses, improving accuracy and efficiency. Zachary developed a python library and documentation to support employees with no deep learning experience.

Before that, Zachary served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at San Diego State University. In the Zeller lab, they studied the development of the peripheral nervous system in the ascidian model Ciona intestinalis and investigated the role of Orphan bHLH-1 in the Delta-Notch signaling pathway. In the Sussman lab, they focused on repairing and restoring myocardial structure and function to treat cardiomyopathy, specifically studying the role of mitochondria in cardiomyocyte senescence.

Zachary Ip's work experience showcases their ability to apply technical skills to solve real-world problems and contribute to scientific advancements.

Zachary Ip, Ph.D., began their education journey in 2013 at San Diego State University where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with Honors in Biology. Their field of study focused on Cell and Molecular Biology, and they successfully completed their undergraduate program in 2018.

In 2016, Zachary also had the opportunity to attend Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. However, no degree or field of study information is provided for this particular experience.

Building upon their undergraduate studies, Zachary furthered their education at the University of Washington starting in 2018. Zachary enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering, which they are expected to complete in 2023.

As of now, Zachary has demonstrated a keen interest in multiple branches of the biological sciences, particularly in the field of bioengineering and biomedical engineering.
