Stefan Jenkins

Stefan Jenkins has a diverse work experience in the field of analytical chemistry. Stefan is currently working as the Director of Analytical Chemistry at Inscripta, Inc. where they began in January 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of Analytics at Sestina Bio, LLC. from August 2022 to January 2023. Before that, they served as the Head of Analytics at iMicrobes (Industrial Microbes, Inc.) from December 2021 to August 2022.

Stefan's career also includes working at Zymergen as a Scientist III, where they provided analytical chemistry support for microbial biosynthesis projects and continuously improved analytical methodology. Stefan held this position from August 2017 to December 2021. Stefan previously worked as a Scientist II and Scientist I at Zymergen from February 2020 to August 2021 and from November 2017 to February 2020, respectively.

Before joining Zymergen, Stefan worked at Intrexon Corporation as a Scientist I from February 2016 to October 2017. At Intrexon, they developed and managed mass spectrometry applications for microbial metabolomics.

Prior to that, Stefan worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as a Project Scientist from September 2013 to February 2016. Their work at the lab involved assay development, computational workflows, and instrument maintenance to enhance data quality and decrease experimental time.

Stefan began their career at Agilent Technologies as a Field Service Engineer from January 2005 to September 2013. In this role, they provided field service support for Agilent's LC and GC mass spectrometry products across various industries.

Stefan also gained experience at Exelixis as an Associate Research Scientist II from February 2002 to January 2005. Their responsibilities included high-throughput LC/MS screening and maintenance of automation systems.

Stefan started their career as a Research Assistant I at Qiagen Sciences, Operon Technologies, where they focused on custom oligonucleotide synthesis and liquid handler maintenance from October 2001 to February 2002.

Stefan Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, graduating in 2000. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Cell and Molecular Biology at San Francisco State University, completing the program in 2010.
