Behind every great vision for the future is a leader with the know-how to prioritize resources and make investment decisions that are timely, bold and wise. Insight Chief Financial Officer Glynis Bryan learned this fiscal stewardship in the transportation industry. Then, in a midcareer move, she mastered the fluid, aggressive decision-making the IT field requires.
Glynis was raised in Jamaica. Her mother was a financial professional. But Glynis earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology before discovering her own talent for financial analysis and management. It led her to an MBA in finance at Florida International University and an internship at Ryder System Inc. Over the next 16 years, Glynis honed her financial and analytical skills as she rose to senior vice president of Ryder and CFO of the company’s largest business unit, Ryder Transportation Services.
In 2001, Glynis was named chief financial officer of APL Logistics, where she applied her skills on a global scale for the Oakland, California-based shipping firm. Her success caught the attention of Swift Transportation Inc. and, in 2005, Glynis became Swift’s executive vice president and CFO.
She was intrigued by the pace of change in the IT industry and by the vision and versatility required to support such a rapidly evolving field. Glynis became Insight’s CFO in 2007. With a strong team around her, she has helped guide Insight through expansion, recession and into recovery. She remains an eager and inquisitive student of the IT industry, working to keep the company agile and responsive in an ever-evolving market.
