Albert Liu

Director, Education at Insight Policy Research

Albert’s deep educational experience focuses on bridging the gap between high school and postsecondary attainment, understanding the secondary school experiences of students with disabilities, and measuring teacher effectiveness. He is an experienced economist and statistician, with expertise in designing program evaluations, applying complex data analysis techniques, and effectively communicating results to stakeholders.

Albert is a strategic leader and manager of Insight’s education portfolio, which is principally focused on finding ways to improve academic outcomes among at-risk and vulnerable students. He currently supports a variety of projects for the U.S. Department of Education.

Prior to joining Insight, Albert was a senior researcher at Mathematica Policy Research. Earlier, he taught microeconomics with application to domestic policy analysis and international relations at the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University. Albert has published numerous articles and book chapters.
