Tia Fletcher

Tia Fletcher has over 10 years of experience in qualitative research on Black and Latinx/e families, identity construction, and sociocultural theory. Her research specializes in child development, identity exploration, and family cultural socialization practices.

As a member of the education team at Westat Insight, Tia uses a social justice and equity lens to support several projects with the Promise Neighborhoods program; the National Urban League; the Race Equity for Fatherhood, Relationship, and Marriage Programs to Empower Black Families project; and the Medicare Audiences project.

Earlier, Tia served as the program manager to the McNulty Scholars Program for Leadership in Science and Math at Hunter College, where she managed programming and provided research mentorship for young female scholars majoring in STEM subjects. At John Jay College’s Research and Evaluation Center, Tia assisted in the operational and research capacity of local nonprofit community-based organizations using evidenced-based practices. She has extensive research experience with several New York University and City University of New York research labs. Tia received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology at City University of New York Graduate Center and her M.A. in forensic psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
