Christo Rautenbach

Christo Rautenbach is a Coastal and Estuarine Physical Processes Scientist at NIWA since November 2020, with a focus on numerical modeling, coastal engineering, and oceanography. Concurrently, Christo Rautenbach serves as a researcher at the University of Cape Town, involved in setting up a high-resolution WAVEWATCH III model for southern Africa. Previously, Christo Rautenbach has held positions such as Data Scientist with Maritime New Zealand, Physical Oceanographer at MetOcean Solutions, Chief Marine Scientist at the South African Weather Service, and Senior Researcher at CSIR, among others. Christo Rautenbach holds a PhD in Oceanography from The University of Waikato and a second PhD in Process, Energy and Environmental Engineering from the University of South-Eastern Norway, complemented by an MSc in Applied Mathematics from Stellenbosch University.
