Robert Kuimelis, PhD, has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Robert started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Nucleic Acid Chemistry at Boston College from 1993 to 1996. Robert then worked as a Research Scientist at Applied Biosystems from 1996 to 1997. Following this, they joined Phylos as a Sr. Research Scientist from 1997 to 1998, then became a Group Leader from 1998 to 2001, and later an Associate Director of Microarray and Assay Technology from 2001 to 2002.

In 2002, Kuimelis joined Affymetrix, where they served as an Associate Director of Chemistry Research from 2002 to 2005 and then as the Director of Chemistry from 2005 to 2011.

After leaving Affymetrix, they worked as an R&D Consultant and Contractor at Labcyte in 2012, where they focused on plastic consumable surface bio-functionalization for biomarker preservation and acoustic ejection. During their time at Labcyte, they designed and executed a successful research plan, resulting in a key patent application.

In 2013, Kuimelis held multiple roles. Robert worked as a Consultant, Contractor, and Technical Advisor at their own company, followed by being the Sr. Director of Chemistry at HealthTell.

Robert'smost recent position is as the VP of Chemistry at InSilixa since 2015.

Robert Kuimelis, PhD, completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Saint Mary's College of California from 1985 to 1989. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the University of California, Davis from 1989 to 1993.
