Philipp Senn

Chief Engineer Military Systems at Insitec

Philipp Senn has a diverse work experience spanning various engineering and technical roles.

In 2008, they completed an internship at QIAGEN Instruments AG where they evaluated stepper motor drive modules and developed a controller for assembly tests of mechatronic building blocks.

From 2009 to 2010, they worked as a Sound and Lighting Technician at SSE Eventtechnik GmbH, where they installed temporary sound, lighting, and electrical power systems and implemented an electronic rental management system.

In 2015, Philipp joined the Bionics Institute as a Research Engineer, specializing in the development of electronics and firmware for a custom research device and managing in vivo testing of an implantable stimulation system.

From 2016 to 2022, they worked at AVT Australia and held multiple roles, including Chief Technology Officer, overseeing various engineering groups and delivering successful gimbal development projects.

In 2022, Philipp joined Electro Optic Systems as an Optical Sensor Portfolio Manager, responsible for planning and setting up a new electro-optical sensor development center and recruiting a core engineering team.

Currently, they are working at Insitec Pty Ltd as the Chief Engineer Military Systems, leading engineering efforts in the development of military systems.

Philipp Senn pursued their education in various institutions and fields. Philipp completed their Master of Science ETH in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at ETH Zürich from 2003 to 2009. Philipp then went on to obtain two Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Engineering, one from the Bionics Institute (2012-2015) and the other from the University of Melbourne (2010-2015). Prior to their higher education, they obtained their Matura degree in Type C, Mathematics, and Sciences from Gymnasium Muttenz, Switzerland, from 1998 to 2001.

In addition to their academic achievements, Philipp Senn has obtained several certifications. Philipp became a Chartered Professional Engineer from Engineers Australia in 2024, a Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) from INCOSE in 2023, a Registered Professional Engineer from the Business Licensing Authority Victoria in 2023, and was listed in the National Engineering Register by Engineers Australia in 2023. Philipp also obtained a Laser Safety Officer (Level 1) certification from UNSW Canberra in 2019, a Certified Interconnect Designer - Advanced (CID+) certification from IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries in 2019, and a Certified Interconnect Designer (CID) certification from the same institution in 2018.
