Paige Akers has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical fields. Paige began their career as a National Pharmaceutical Council Intern at SmithKline Beecham in 1993. Paige then worked as a Pharmacy Resident at the University of Kentucky from 1995-1997. From 1997-2000, they served as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, where they focused on pediatric pulmonary clinic, cystic fibrosis, asthma, and anticoagulation management. Paige then became an Assistant Professor in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Kentucky from 2000-2002, where they were responsible for instructing and coordinating the Non-traditional Pharm. D. Program. Paige's next role was as a Medical Science Liaison at sanofi-aventis from 2002-2007, where they specialized in arterial and venous thrombosis prevention and management. From 2007-2012, they worked as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs at Lipscomb University's College of Pharmacy and also served as an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice. Paige then joined Vanderbilt University, first as the Course Director of the Interprofessional Learning Program from 2010-2012, and later as a Clinical Pharmacist and Pharmacist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt from 2012-2015. Their most recent position was as a Senior Medical Science Liaison at Vertex Pharmaceuticals from 2015-2019. Currently, Paige is the Associate Director of Medical Science Liaison at Insmed Incorporated, starting in September 2019.
Paige Akers pursued their education in the field of science and pharmacy. From 1985 to 1990, they attended Lipscomb University, where they earned their Bachelor of Science degree. During this time, they focused on Chemistry and Computer Science. Subsequently, they enrolled at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained a Pharm.D. degree in Pharmacy.
