Dayton Thorpe

Dayton Thorpe is a Senior Data Scientist II at Instacart, having joined the company in June 2024 after serving as Co-Founder and CEO of Mercator, an AI-assisted data analytics platform backed by notable investors. Thorpe's experience spans multiple roles in data science, including significant positions at Instacart, where contributions included running controlled experiments and defining key performance metrics on the Shopper Engagement and Ultrafast teams. Earlier experience includes work as a Data Scientist at Valor Equity Partners, Kabbage, Inc., and a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley, where Thorpe earned a Ph.D. in Physics. Additionally, Thorpe interned at CERN, contributing to a published internal paper on timing measurements at the Large Hadron Collider.
