Jessica Bell Brown serves as the Executive Director at the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University since October 2024. Concurrently, Jessica is a Doctoral Candidate in Art History at Princeton University, in the program since July 2013. Previous roles include Curator and Department Head of Contemporary Art at the Baltimore Museum of Art, where Jessica was also involved in the Vice Chair of the Strategic Planning Task Force and the Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion Committee. Jessica has contributed significantly to various prestigious institutions, including the Gracie Mansion Conservancy as a Consulting Curator and the Museum of Modern Art as a Mellon Museum Research Consortium Fellow, where Jessica co-organized the Robert Rauschenberg retrospective. Early experience includes positions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and CREATIVE TIME, with a background in education and public relations. Jessica holds a B.A. in Art History and Business Institutions from Northwestern University and is ABD for a PhD in Art History from Princeton University.
