Christina Gunther-Murphy

VP, Operations at Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Inc.

Christina Gunther-Murphy oversees the design, development, and iteration of organizational structures, processes, and systems that help achieve IHI’s strategic goals. She also oversees the resourcing, development, and enabling processes to support 90 staff and 200 faculty that work directly with IHI’s customers on projects and programs. As an Improvement Advisor, she supports external customers in transforming their organizations through improvement science and methods. Ms. Gunther-Murphy has worked at IHI since 2007 in a variety of roles, including overseeing the strategy and evolution of IHI’s person-centered care content, operations for IHI’s hospital portfolio, and key internal transitions and improvement efforts. She has 15 years of experience in improvement, spread, and scale-up and has served as faculty for IHI’s Improvement Coach program, manager of IHI’s 5 Million Lives Campaign, and as an advisor for several large-scale programs in the US and internally. Prior to joining IHI, she worked at the National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality (NICHQ), where she directed a national initiative focused on providing optimal care to prevent, identify, and treat childhood obesity. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
