Jon Barnes

Senior Research Fellow at Institute for Human Rights and Business

Jon Barnes is an accomplished researcher, writer, and consultant with extensive experience in human rights, ethical trade, and governance. Currently serving as a freelance researcher for the Ethical Trading Initiative and a policy and advocacy adviser for Internews Europe since 2016, Barnes has contributed significantly to publications and strategic analyses related to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and responsible business practices. As a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Human Rights and Business, Barnes produced influential reports on business and human rights issues, including gender equality and forced labor. Previous roles include overseeing regional programs for HelpAge International and managing global initiatives at Consumers International and Panos London. Barnes holds a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of London and a Bachelor's Degree in Hispanic Studies and French from the University of Liverpool.
