Courtney Derr

Courtney Derr is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in event planning, fundraising, and organizational management. Currently serving as Chief Operating Officer at the Institute for Humane Studies since December 2014, Courtney has held multiple leadership roles, including Chief Of Staff and Managing Director of Programs. Prior freelance consulting experience includes strategic planning and execution of various events, including fundraising galas and conferences. Previous positions include Senior Development Director at Transparency International-USA, where a successful annual fundraising strategy was designed, and Deputy Director of Development at the Tax Foundation, where record fundraising was achieved. Courtney began the career as a Legislative Correspondent in the United States Senate. Educational credentials include a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Washington and an ongoing MBA program at George Mason University.
