Ben Gansky is a PhD candidate at Arizona State University specializing in the Human and Social Dimensions in Science and Technology, focusing on data governance and smart city skepticism. As the Borderlands STS Lab Manager, Gansky facilitated meetings and coordinated logistics for research initiatives recognized with the SFIS Champion of the Future award. In addition to academic pursuits, Ben serves as a Research Affiliate and Research and Engagement Manager at the Institute for the Future, working on various equitable futures projects, including data governance and cybersecurity. Gansky co-founded the non-profit collective Free Machine to explore the intersection of technology, policy, and culture. Previous roles include Director of Clinical Programs at Digital Public, Director of Deployments at SPACES Inc., and contributions as a theatre artist and game designer. Ben Gansky holds a PhD in progress from Arizona State University, an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and a BFA from the University of Minnesota.
