Dr. Shahid Amjad is a Professor and Head of the Department, of Environment & Energy Management and Industrial Management. He has a Ph.D. from the School of Ocean Sciences, University of Wales, UK. His MS is from the University of Oslo Norway in Benthic Ecology. He has completed courses in Management of R&D Institutes from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has been associated with the National Institute of Oceanography as Director-General and with various top universities of Pakistan as Acting Vice-Chancellor and Professor. He has also been associated as a visiting faculty with NED and the University of Karachi since 2005. He have over 30 years of research and management experience in Marine and coastal Ecological Assessment and Monitoring. He served as the Principal Investigator (PI) of a 5-year project on North Arabia Sea Environment and Ecosystem Research (NASEER). Project supported by Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan, and U.S. Office of Naval Research (ONR). 1998-2003. The project investigated the Physical, Chemical, Biological Oceanography of the North Arabian as it responds to monsoonal reversal. He was a member of the WWF Scientific Committee and a recipient of the Gold Medal from the Zoological Society of Pakistan. He have undertaken IUCN research projects related mangrove ecosystem and projects awarded by WWF on the fisherfolk community and Tuna fisheries in Balochistan. He is Member Experts Committee SEPA Sindh, Member Standing Committee on Environment FPCCI Karachi. He have conducted training programs and workshops on Climate Change Impacts and Marine Environment and Ecosystems. He has over 30 research papers in National and International Journals of repute. He is engaged in Ecological, monitoring, and Environmental Social Impact Assessment Studies on various coastal and marine projects dealing with LNG, Coal, and Renewable power projects. He had evaluated ESIA and conducted surveys of several coastal and offshore conservation and biodiversity programs and projects. He had conducted coastal and offshore environmental assessments for multinationals on the import of energy (LNG). He represented Pakistan in international programs and conferences supported by Higher Education of Pakistan (HEC).
