Kiran Kumar Thingbaijam is a Seismologist at GNS Science, contributing to the Aotearoa New Zealand National Seismic Hazard Model programme since June 2020, and previously held the position of Seismic Hazard Modeller within the same programme. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Seismological Research, where Kiran led a project on machine learning of seismotectonics and investigated historical earthquake rupture extents. Kiran has held visiting and research positions at KAUST, focusing on earthquake-source scaling laws and dynamic rupture models, and developed ground motion models while serving as a Senior Geophysicist at the Institute of Seismological Research. Kiran's academic background includes a PhD in Earthquake Seismology and an MTech in Computational Seismology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
