Lotte F.M. Houwink ten Cate is currently a Past & Present Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research, a position held since October 2023. Prior to this, Lotte was a Ph.D. student at Columbia University in the City of New York from 2015 to 2023. Lotte served on the Student Council and the Research Committee at the University of Amsterdam from February 2008 to July 2009, functioning as the student representative in a university-wide working group focused on study efficiency. Lotte holds a Master of Arts in International and World History from Columbia University (2013-2014), a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Amsterdam (2012-2013), and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Liberal Arts and Sciences, majoring in History and Literary Studies from Amsterdam University College (2009-2012). Additional education includes coursework at The London School of Economics and Political Science during the 2014-2015 academic year.
