Luiza Souza

Luiza Souza is the current Diretora de Desenvolvimento Institucional e Parcerias at Instituto Clima e Sociedade. Prior to this, they worked as a visiting researcher at Fiocruz - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz from January 2005 to December 2007, where they researched students' scientific initiation and collaborated on a research project on gender and scientific initiation. Luiza was also an integral part of the coordination of the Vocational Scientific Program (Provoc), which included selecting and monitoring students, contacting mentors, and supporting other institutions with similar programs. From March 2007 to May 2016, Souza worked as a Grants Manager at the Ford Foundation, where they were responsible for the overall coordination of all donation-related transactions. Luiza also ensured that donation documents meet internal institution standards and US legislation, prepared quantitative and qualitative analyses of donations made, assisted grantees with their administrative responsibilities related to donations, analyzed proposals and reports produced by grantees, interacted with various departments within the organization, and served as the interface between these departments and grantees. In addition, they ensured compliance with deadlines and targets related to donations, trained staff on donation procedures and system, attended to auditors, advised the communications department on disclosures in Portuguese, among other responsibilities.

Luiza Souza has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and in Biology Education from Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Luiza has a Master's degree in Educational Technology for Health Sciences from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Luiza also has a Pós-Graduação em Informação from Universidade Internacional da Mulher (IFU), Hamburgo, Alemanha. Finally, they have an Especialização em Educação Superior no Brasil from Universidade Federal Fluminense.
