Dan Herman, PhD, is an accomplished leader in the fields of intellectual property, innovation, and economic development. As Chief Executive Officer of Intellectual Property Ontario since April 2019, Dan is instrumental in advancing Ontario’s economic growth and innovation ecosystem. Previously, Dan served as Chief Advisor on the establishment of Intellectual Property Ontario and has held various roles, including Lecturer at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Principal at Dan Herman Consulting Inc., providing advisory services to governments globally. Dan's extensive experience includes co-founding MyJupiter Inc., leading strategy and partnerships at Myant Inc., and shaping Canada's Innovation Agenda while serving as Head of Strategy for Innovation Canada. Dan is also a co-founder of The DEEP Centre, which significantly influenced Canadian innovation policy. Dan holds a PhD in Political Economy from the Balsillie School of International Affairs, along with a Master’s from the London School of Economics and a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University.
