Ioanna Kouvari

Scientific Associate at Intelligencia

Ioanna Kouvari has worked as a Scientific Associate at Intelligencia since April 2023. Prior to this role, they held the position of Junior Scientific Associate at the same company from September 2022 to April 2023.

Before joining Intelligencia, Ioanna completed their MSc thesis titled "The clinical effect of epigenetics in childhood leukemia" at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. Ioanna'sresearch focused on the role of GAS5, a long non-coding RNA, in the response of children with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia to glucocorticoid-based chemotherapy. Ioanna conducted scientific analyses and studied the expression levels of the GAS5 gene, which suggested a link between its overexpression and resistance to therapy. Ioanna worked on this project from September 2020 to September 2022.

Additionally, Ioanna conducted a BSc thesis titled "Isolation and study of the effect of classical MHC class I molecules on immune response" at the University of Crete. Ioanna'sresearch involved controlling the activity of sMHC class I molecules in isolated spleen cells from mice and investigating the impact of classical MHC class I molecules on immune response. Ioanna performed various immunoassays, including ELISA, immunofluorescence, and FACS, as well as protein immunoprecipitation and purification techniques. This project took place from October 2018 to October 2019.

Ioanna Kouvari completed their Master's degree in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Diagnostics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Crete, although the specific years are not provided.

In addition to their formal education, Ioanna has obtained several certifications. In April 2021, they completed the "Bacterial Genomes: Antimicrobial Resistance in Bacterial Pathogens" course offered by Wellcome Connecting Science Courses and Conferences. In December 2020, they participated in the "6th Symposium on Advances in Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy" organized by the Hellenic Society of Immuno-Oncology. Furthermore, in October 2020 and November 2019, they attended the "18th National Congress of Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry - Clinical Biochemistry" and the "17th National Congress of Greek Society of Clinical Chemistry - Clinical Biochemistry" respectively, hosted by GSCC-CB. Prior to their formal education, in February 2018, they completed a seminar on Laboratory Safety offered by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB). Additionally, Ioanna has mentioned completing a course on the "Design and Interpretation of Clinical trials" through Coursera, but the month and year of completion are not provided.
