Goncalo Neves

Goncalo Neves has extensive experience in the field of AgriTech and vertical farming. Goncalo is currently working at IGS Limited as the Head of AgriTech Partnerships, where they have been since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of VP Business Development at IGS Limited starting from August 2021.

Before joining IGS Limited, Neves worked at INFARM as the Director of Farm Hardware from March 2020 to March 2021. INFARM is a company that combines vertical farming with IoT technologies to provide an alternative food system.

Neves also has experience as a Co-Founder and CEO of BemStudio from June 2016 to May 2020. BemStudio is a technology company that focuses on design and problem-solving. Goncalo was also a Co-Founder and CTO at OneFarm BV from January 2017 to January 2020. OneFarm aims to provide affordable and sustainable food security through large-scale vertical farming.

Additionally, Neves served as the Managing Director at A Lab Vertical Farm from June 2017 to December 2019. Goncalo was involved in the establishment and management of a vertical farm.

Apart from their industry roles, Neves has also contributed to academia as a Guest Lecturer at Breitner Academie from March 2017 to June 2017. Goncalo conducted workshops on urban farming and facilitated discussions on providing enough food for the growing global population.

Prior to these positions, Neves held several roles at Valoya Ltd, a leading provider of LED grow lights for biotech and horticultural purposes. Goncalo served as the Business Development Director from December 2015 to May 2016, the Solution Manager from October 2012 to November 2015, and the Technical Manager from June 2011 to November 2012.

Neves began their career as a Researcher at Aalto University School of Science and Technology from April 2009 to May 2011.

Goncalo Neves has a diverse educational background. Goncalo completed their high school education at High School Campos Melo from 2001 to 2004, where they obtained a Technician (Electrician) degree in Electrical and Electronic Installations.

Goncalo then pursued a B.Sc.(Tech.) degree in Electromechanical Engineering from Universidade da Beira Interior, studying from 2004 to 2009. In 2009, they also participated in an Erasmus program at Helsinki University of Technology, where they focused on Electromechanical Engineering for a semester.

Continuing their educational journey, Goncalo Neves attended Aalto University from 2010 to 2012, where they completed an M.Sc.(Tech.) degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Illumination Engineering and Electrical Building Services. During this time, they also pursued an M.Sc.(Minor) in International Design Business Management at Aalto University from 2011 to 2012.

In 2018, Goncalo Neves enrolled in a short program at Wageningen University & Research, focusing on Lighting in greenhouses and vertical farms.

In addition to their academic achievements, Goncalo Neves also holds a certification in Mental Health First Aider Course from Worksafe (UK) Ltd, which they obtained in September 2022.
