Manager, Employee Relations

In this role, you will work closely with our Quality & Operations teams supporting our population of credentialed nurses along with various corporate teams. You will be responsible for balancing employee advocacy and business operating needs while promoting compliance, equity and creating a positive experience. As primary point of contact related to interpretation of guidance and policies across a variety of HR/People & Culture matters within a healthcare setting, confidence in partnership both internally and externally is key. You will also support People & Culture (P&C) initiatives ensuring the accomplishment of business priorities through building credible relationships with business leaders, allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- As a key member of the P&C team, partner with the Senior Director, ER & Compliance, Vice President, People Experience and Sr. Director, Clinical Operations to develop and execute effective employee relations strategies and solutions that align with the organization's goals and promotes a positive work culture.
- Assess and recommend enhancements across employee relations policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and healthcare industry standards. Stay updated on changes in employment laws and healthcare regulations.
- Conduct complex/sensitive employee related investigations. Identify potential risks, propose practical and compliant solutions, and apply critical thinking to navigate legal challenges effectively.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including Department of Public Health, Joint Commission, and other industry-specific standards. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address any compliance gaps.
- Develop and deliver employee relations and compliance training programs to educate employees and managers on policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential legal and compliance risks and develop action plans to mitigate address non-compliance issues and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of other programs and systems enhancing the performance and culture of the organization.
- Utilize metrics and analytics to monitor employee relations trends, compliance metrics, and identify areas for improvement. As needed, present trends and recommendations to management for appropriate visibility and to influence change.
Qualifications
- Highly credible business partner with an ability to successfully coach and guide in a dynamic culture.
- 6+ years’ employee relations experience ideally within healthcare, healthcare staffing or highly regulated industries.
- Professional experience in US employment law; Law degree preferred.
- Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR, SPHR) a plus.
- Experience with Department of Public Health, Joint Commission a plus.
- Ability to clearly convey and receive information through a variety of methods and in various situations.
- Skilled at consulting with wide variety of partner types and navigating unchartered territory.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions leveraging quantitative and qualitative data as appropriate.
- Successful experience in building strong working relationships and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- Proactive and self-directed with ability to manage simultaneous projects with competing deadlines.
- Proven ability to mentor and lead others within and outside of direct accountability.
