Marco Menestrina

Program Manager, Shelter & Settlements at InterAction

Marco Menestrina joined InterAction as the Program Manager for Climate and Environmental Impacts in October 2022.

Marco is an expert in humanitarian aid with more than 10 years of field experience implementing emergency responses in conflict and disaster-affected contexts. At InterAction, he is currently supporting the understanding of climate change and environmental landscape within the humanitarian community.

Prior to joining InterAction, Marco worked as the ECHO technical expert, managing the humanitarian portfolio of the European Commission in Afghanistan and Bangladesh. He spent five years living in Afghanistan, developing and managing the in-country Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM), and two years in Bangladesh supporting the Rohingya response.

Additionally, he has worked for several NGOs and has supported programs in Indonesia, Timor Leste, Togo, Uganda, and the DRC. At the start of his career, he worked in the private sector as an engineer for a software company in Italy and China.

Marco is an Italian national. He holds an MEng in Computer Science and received an M.A in Cooperation and Development from the Sapienza University in Rome.
