Sophie Yakir has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Sophie began their career as a Teacher's Aide at Baldwin School, where they co-taught history classes and supported other teachers. Sophie then worked as a Program Assistant for Citywide Initiatives at The After-School Corporation, where they liaised with community-based organizations and managed logistics for program workshops. Sophie also served as a Program Associate at JCC Association, where they communicated with relevant parties, managed program databases, and reported survey data. Sophie further worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching English and life skills to minority youth. Sophie also served as a Development & Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant at the Foundation for Tolerance International, leading a strategic thinking workshop and designing monitoring and evaluation systems. Most recently, Sophie held multiple roles at Interim, Inc., including Grants & Contracts Manager/Risk Manager and Compliance & Business Development Director, where they oversaw grants, contracts, and fundraising efforts.
Sophie Yakir received their Bachelor’s Degree in History & Education from Brandeis University in 2007. In 2012, they pursued a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. Additionally, in the same year, they attended Middlebury College for Russian Language and Literature studies. Sophie also obtained a certification in Development Project Management from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in June 2012. In 2006, they briefly attended Vietnam National University for History studies.
