Brendan Burke has extensive legal and investigative experience, currently serving as Investigative Counsel at the DOI Office of Inspector General since March 2022, focusing on investigations of potential violations involving senior DOI officials and law enforcement personnel. A retired captain from the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps, Brendan's previous roles include Special Assistant for Legal Matters to the Naval Inspector General, Executive Assistant and Special Counsel at the Department of the Navy, and Associate General Counsel for Environment, Energy, and Installations at the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Brendan's military legal expertise includes positions as environmental attorney and supervisory attorney, where advisory roles encompassed international and operational law, as well as environmental policy. Education includes an LL.M. in Energy and Environmental Law from The George Washington University Law School, a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law, and a B.J. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
