Kyle Simonetta, Ph.D.

Kyle Simonetta, Ph.D. has extensive experience in the field of lead discovery and drugging E3 ubiquitin ligases. Kyle is currently the Senior Director of Lead Discovery at Interline Therapeutics since October 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Director of Lead Discovery at Interline Therapeutics from April 2021 to September 2021.

Before joining Interline Therapeutics, Dr. Simonetta worked at Nurix Therapeutics for nine years. Kyle served as the Director of Lead Discovery from August 2019 to March 2021, where they were responsible for leading projects aimed at drugging E3 ubiquitin ligases and discovering molecular glue small molecules that enhance protein-protein interactions disrupted in disease. Kyle successfully identified and optimized small molecules that bind at the protein-protein interface of the E3 ligase β-TrCP and its substrate β-Catenin, improving their binding affinity over 1500-fold. Kyle was also an Associate Director of Lead Discovery at Nurix Therapeutics from March 2012 to August 2019.

Prior to their industry experience, Dr. Simonetta worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at UC Berkeley from March 2010 to March 2012. In this role, they focused on investigating the druggability of E3 ubiquitin ligases using biochemical assays and high-throughput screening methodologies.

Dr. Simonetta started their career as a Senior Laboratory Technician at Columbia University from July 2002 to July 2004.

Kyle Simonetta, Ph.D. completed their education in the field of science. Kyle obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biophysical Chemistry from Dartmouth College, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Afterward, they pursued further studies and earned their Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they attended from 2004 to 2010.
