Hoang Bao

Hoang Bao has extensive work experience in privacy and data governance. They are currently a member of the IAPP Privacy Engineering Advisory Board since January 2023. Previously, they worked at Google as a Senior Staff - Privacy, Safety & Security. Prior to that, Hoang was the Principal at Virtual Privacy starting in February 2016.

From 2020 to 2022, Hoang held various positions at Twitch, including Senior Director, Head of Global Privacy & Data Governance, and Director, Head of Privacy. Before Twitch, they worked at Netflix as the Director of Privacy Assurance and Engineering from March 2018 to September 2019.

Earlier in their career, Hoang served as the Director of Privacy at Walmart eCommerce from September 2016 to February 2018. They also worked as an Advisor at OneVietnam Network until December 2016.

Hoang's experience also includes a significant role at Yahoo as the Director of Policy, Privacy & Data Governance, where they led global privacy and data governance initiatives and advised senior executives on related matters. They worked at Yahoo from July 2009 to April 2016.

Before their roles in the tech industry, Hoang worked as a Senior Consultant at KPMG LLP from September 2006 to July 2009. They also had experience as a Teaching Associate in the Computer Science Department at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from September 2005 to June 2006.

Hoang Bao holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. In addition, they have obtained several certifications from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals. These certifications include the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), Certified Information Privacy Professional, United States (CIPP/US), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT).
