Ray Everett has a diverse range of work experience in the field of privacy and data protection. Ray currently serves as a member of the Education Advisory Board for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and a member of the Board of Advisors for Surge Ventures, a venture studio focused on privacy and compliance management. In their previous roles, Ray was the Head of Privacy & Data Protection and Associate General Counsel at Avellino Lab, where they were responsible for global privacy and data protection matters. Ray also worked as a Lecturer on Privacy and Data Governance at the University of Montpellier and provided consulting services through their own company, PrivacyClue LLC. Ray has held leadership positions at Blackhawk Network, where they served as the Chief Privacy Officer and led the company's global privacy program, and TrustArc (formerly known as TRUSTe), where they managed major consulting engagements and directed product management. Ray also worked at Yahoo! as the Director of Global Advertising Privacy, overseeing advertising-related privacy programs and policy-related activities. Additionally, Ray has served as a Board Member for the Network Time Foundation.
Ray Everett has a well-rounded education history. Ray obtained a JD degree in Law from The George Washington University Law School, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. Prior to that, they earned a BA degree in International Studies from George Mason University, where they attended from 1987 to 1992.
In addition to their academic degrees, Ray has also pursued various certifications to enhance their professional skills. Ray obtained a Doctor of Divinity (HC) certificate from the Universal Life Church in March 2020. In June 2019, they became a Fellow of Information Privacy and received the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
