A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Isela Consuegra is an internationally recognized educator with over 30 years of experience in school psychology, administration and programme implementation.
She earned a degree as a clinical and educational psychologist from Mexico’s Universidad Iberoamericana and a master’s degree in psychoanalytic approaches to learning at AMPIEP (Asociación Mexicana para la Práctica, Investigación y Enseñanza del Psicoanálisis).
In combination with her role as Head of School at Escuela Lomas Altas in Mexico City, Ms Consuegra serves as a member of the IB educator network (IBEN) acting as a workshop leader, site visitor, consultant and field representative.
In 2018, Ms Consuegra was elected member of the International Baccalaureate Heads Council—an advisory group to the IB Director General. She has acted as vice-chair of the Heads Council since 2019. She was voted into the position of Chair of the Heads Council in October 2021 and therefore will hold a Board member ex-officio position on the IB Board of Governors as well, as from January 2022.
Ms Consuegra is the president of IBAMEX (Mexican Association of IB World Schools). This has given her the opportunity to consolidate and unite the community of IB World Schools in her region.
Isela found a professional mission in education, she believes education is the most powerful and subtle ripple effect for a loving and genuine transformation towards a better world.
