Johann Hattingh

Johann Hattingh has a diverse work experience. Johann currently holds the position of Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Cape Town, which they started in January 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Chief Editor for the Bulletin for International Taxation at IBFD starting from February 2019. From 2013 to 2022, Johann served as an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, with a brief period as an Adjunct Associate Professor from November 2013 to December 2014. Before their academic career, they worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Associate Director from February 2003 to November 2014. Johann also gained experience as a Member of the Johannesburg Bar from January 2000 to January 2002.

Johann Hattingh's education history begins in 1996 when they enrolled at Stellenbosch University to pursue their Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Business law. Johann completed their BCom in 1998.

Following their undergraduate studies, Johann continued their education at Stellenbosch University and obtained their Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in 2000.

In 2001, Johann pursued further studies in International Tax Law at Leiden University, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree. Johann completed this program in 2002.

Motivated to delve deeper into the field of law, Johann enrolled at the University of Cape Town in 2004 to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) degree. Johann successfully completed this program in 2006.

After developing a strong academic foundation, Johann's educational journey led him to the University of Cambridge, where they commenced their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law in 2009. Johann is expected to complete their PhD degree in 2022.

Throughout their education, Johann has consistently focused on studying and specializing in various aspects of law, including International Tax Law, Business Law, and gaining advanced expertise in their chosen field.
