Stuart Gibson

Stuart Gibson has extensive work experience in various roles related to taxation and law. Stuart served as the Chief Editor for Global News and US at IBFD starting in June 2020. Prior to that, they were the Chief Editor for US at IBFD from December 2019 to June 2020. Stuart also worked as the Director of International Tax at Bloomberg Tax from March 2019 to November 2019. Stuart has a background in law and practiced as a Counsel at Schiff Hardin LLP from June 2017 to March 2019, where they specialized in tax litigation and controversies. Before that, they were the Editor of Tax Notes International at Tax Analysts from October 2014 to May 2017. Stuart also had a distinguished career at the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division, where they served as a Senior Litigation Counsel from July 1984 to January 2013, handling various tax-related cases. Additionally, they were a Member of the Fairfax County School Board from January 1996 to December 2011, representing over 125,000 constituents and overseeing a large school system. Stuart also served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Virginia School Boards Association from November 2004 to November 2011.

Stuart Gibson obtained their Bachelor's degree in Journalism, with a focus on Advertising, from Northwestern University from 1969 to 1973. Stuart then pursued further education at the University of Minnesota Law School, where they obtained their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, specializing in Law, from 1973 to 1976.
