Nele Loorents is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in defense and security policy. Currently a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Defence and Security (ICDS) since December 2023, Loorents has focused on NATO and US Defense policy issues. Previous roles include serving as Defense Counselor at the Estonian Embassy in Washington from August 2021 to July 2023, and Deputy Defence Counsellor for the Estonian Delegation at NATO HQ between August 2017 and August 2021. Loorents also held key positions at the Ministry of Defence of Estonia, including Director of the Procurement Department and Director of the Infrastructure Department, with responsibilities in defense material procurement, infrastructure development, and military equipment acquisition. Educational qualifications include a Master's Degree in Geo-Ecology from Tallinn University and studies at King's College London and the Royal College of Defence Studies.
