Cheryl Joy Fernandez-Abila

Cheryl Joy Fernandez-Abila PhD currently serves as a Research Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) since June 2024. Prior to this role, Cheryl held the position of Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines from June 2005 to July 2025. Cheryl earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from James Cook University between 2012 and 2016, a Master of Management in Economics from Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa in 2009-2010, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, also in Economics, from Massey University in 2007-2008. Cheryl completed a Bachelor of Science in Economics (cum laude) at the University of the Philippines from 2001 to 2005 and graduated from high school at the University of the Philippines in 2001.
