She has worked as an accountability journalist at publications including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, where she was Washington bureau chief and contributed to the Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Tree of Life synagogue shooting. She also worked for Chalkbeat Detroit, Bridge Michigan, the Springfield (Ohio) News-Sun, the Waterbury (Connecticut) Republican-American, and The Herald in New Britain, Connecticut.
Tracie has been a collaborator and communications director of Healing Bells, a global organization of reporters, composers and filmmakers who use journalistically sound and artistically engaging methods to tell stories that reveal the agency of marginalized people.
She is a former Knight-Wallace journalism fellow at the University of Michigan.
She has a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Central Connecticut State University.
