Rachel Brand

Director at International Justice Mission

Rachel Brand is the current Director at International Justice Mission. Rachel has a long and impressive history of working to protect people's rights, both in the United States and internationally.

Brand began their career as an Assistant Attorney General for Legal Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2003 to 2007. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing the Department's legal policy agenda.

From 2008 to 2011, Brand worked as Counsel at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, a top law firm in Washington D.C. In this role, they advised clients on a variety of legal issues, including regulatory compliance and litigation.

In 2011, Brand became Vice President and Chief Counsel for Regulatory Litigation at the United States Chamber Litigation Center. In this role, they oversaw the Chamber's litigation strategy and worked to advance the business community's interests in the courts.

In 2012, Brand was appointed to the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB), a federal government agency tasked with ensuring that civil liberties are protected in the fight against terrorism. Rachel served on the Board for five years, until 2017.

In January 2017, Brand left their position at the Chamber Litigation Center to become an Associate Professor Of Law at George Mason University - Antonin Scalia Law School. Rachel Brand received their Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School and their Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Minnesota-Morris.
