Susan Umlor has a diverse work experience in the nonprofit sector. Susan started their career at World Vision, where they worked as a Senior Account Manager, raising over $1.6 million a year and managing relationships with over 1,200 donors. Susan also served as a Project Manager, handling administrative duties, managing expense reports, and organizing international trips.
Following their time at World Vision, Susan worked at Be The Match Foundation as an Online Giving Development Coordinator, where they managed online and direct mail programs and coordinated various fundraising projects. Susan then moved on to CaringBridge, where they served as a Development Specialist, overseeing direct mail and peer-to-peer fundraising programs and advising on board giving and major donors.
Susan later joined the Science Museum of Minnesota as an Annual Fund Manager. In this role, they developed and implemented fundraising strategies for the Annual Fund, building relationships with mid-range donors and utilizing various channels, including direct mail, email, telemarketing, events, and stewardship.
Currently, Susan is working at International Justice Mission as the Director of Strategic Partnerships, Midwest, where they are responsible for building partnerships and cultivating relationships to support the organization's mission.
Throughout their career, Susan has demonstrated strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with stakeholders.
Susan Umlor received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Studies from St. Olaf College in 2003. Susan then obtained their M.A. in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary from 2006 to 2010. Prior to these higher education experiences, Susan attended Edina High School.
