Krista Schlyer is a seasoned writer and photographer specializing in conservation, with over two decades of experience in the field. As a self-employed freelancer since 2000, Krista focuses on raising awareness of ecological, human health, and environmental justice issues, particularly regarding the US-Mexico borderlands. In addition to being a Senior Fellow at the International League of Conservation Photographers since 2007, Krista serves as the Board Member and Executive Director of the Daniel DiTondo Foundation, which promotes art education and scholarships in Washington, D.C. Previous roles include Photo Editor at Defenders of Wildlife and research positions at Responsive Politics and Congressional Quarterly. Krista holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor's degree in Theology, Biology, and Philosophy from Saint Mary's College.
