Melissa Groo is a distinguished wildlife and conservation photographer with extensive experience in both journalism and research. Currently serving as a Sony Artisan of Imagery since February 2024, Melissa's contributions to the field include roles as an Associate Fellow with the International League of Conservation Photographers and a Contributing Editor for Audubon Magazine. Melissa has authored columns for Outdoor Photographer magazine and has operated Melissa Groo Photography since 2010. Previous research work includes roles with Save the Elephants and the Elephant Listening Project at Cornell Lab of Ornithology, focused on elephant conservation and behavior. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree from Stanford University in Education, alongside bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and English Literature from Santa Fe University of Art and Design and Trinity College-Hartford, respectively.
